Solomi K.S.

K.S. Solomi was born in Idalion, Cyprus in 1947.
He is married to Dr Despina Charalambidou and lives in Nicosia.
He is a graduate in Geology of the State University of New York, USA (BSc).
He studied Engineering Geology at the University of Leeds, UK (MSc).
He received scientific training at the Institute of Geological Sciences (London, 1978), Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (Hannover, 1985), the Global Seismology Unit, BGS (Edinburg, 1993) and at CTBTO (Vienna, 2001).
He started his career in 1970 with the Cyprus Geological Survey, was promoted to the post of Geological Officer A' and retired as Senior Geological Officer – Head of the Seismology Section of the Cyprus Geological Survey. He published in professional Journals and Bulletins mainly on earthquakes, seismic hazards and the Cyprus Seismic Network.
He was responsible for the design and upgrading of the Cyprus Seismic Network.
He participated in major research projects with international organizations and universities.
