Papaioannou Ch.A.

Ch.A. Papaioannou was born in Thessaloniki in 1958.
He is married to Katerina Koutsioupi and lives in Thessaloniki.
He graduated as Geologist and made his PhD in the Thessaloniki University.
He is working as Research Director at the Institute of Engineering Seismology & Earthquake Engineering (ITSAK) in Thessaloniki. Research fellow at IRIGM (University Grenoble FR), INGV (Rome-IT), Risk Engineering Inc (Boulder-USA) and Catholic University (Washington DC).
His main research fields are seismic hazard assessment, long term earthquake prediction and site effects.
He participated in two microzonation studies in Cyprus.
He has great experience in seismic hazard assessment of critical infrastructures in Greece and Cyprus.
He is author and co-author of 100 publications with 1300 references to his research work.
He is reviewer of international journals and elected member of the executive council of the EMSC (1994-2003).
